Pet Transport Guide

How Does Pet Transportation Actually Work?

If you've never used a pet transportation service before, here's the complete picture — from the first text to the moment your pet is back home.

The Simple Version

You text us the details. We give you a price. You confirm and pay. On the day of the appointment, we pick up your pet, handle everything at the clinic, and bring them home. You get photo updates along the way. You don't leave your desk.

That's the whole thing. Here's what each step actually looks like.

Step by Step: A Full Vet Visit with Envoy Pet

1

You text us the details

Text (813) 922-3935 or fill out the quote form at envoypet.com. Tell us your pickup address, the vet clinic, and the appointment time. We'll come back with a firm price — typically within a few minutes.

2

You get a firm price

No estimates, no "it depends." A full vet visit in Tampa runs $225–$300 depending on distance and wait time. We give you the exact number before you confirm anything.

3

You pay to lock it in

We send a payment link. Payment secures the booking. You receive a confirmation text with the date, time, pickup address, and clinic so everything is in writing.

4

Morning of — you get a reminder

At 7am on the day of the appointment, we text you a reminder with the pickup time. No surprises, no wondering if we remembered.

5

We text when we're on the way

Before we leave to pick up your pet, you get a text. "On my way to get [pet name]. About X minutes out." You know exactly when we're arriving.

6

Pickup — your pet loads into a secured kennel

Your pet is loaded into a secured secured hard-sided kennel in the cargo area of our vehicle. The kennel is purpose-built for vehicle transport — hard-sided, stable, and safe in the event of a hard stop. Your pet has water available for the ride.

7

Drop-off — your pet is checked in at the clinic

We arrive at the clinic, unload your pet, and check them in. We stay. We don't drop and leave. Your pet isn't alone in a waiting room while someone circles back later — we're there the whole time.

8

You get a photo update mid-appointment

While your pet is waiting or settled, we send you a photo. This isn't an automated update — it's a real photo from the visit so you can see they're fine.

9

Return — your pet is home

After the appointment, we load your pet back up and head home. You get a confirmation text the moment they're back: "[Pet name] is home." That's the job done.

10

Follow-up the next day

We check in the next day to see how your pet is doing after the visit. It's a short text. It matters.

What the Communication Looks Like

Everything runs through text — no app to download, no portal to log into. Here's what a typical job looks like from your phone:

Example — Day of Job
Morning Sarah — picking up Milo today at 9:30am. I'll text when I'm on the way.
Sounds good, thank you!
On my way to get Milo. About 8 minutes out.
Milo is checked in at Bayshore Animal Clinic. I'll let you know when they're done.
Milo is doing great. [photo]
Milo is home.

That's the entire communication thread for a job. Short, clear, at the right moments. You always know where your pet is without having to ask.

What Happens If Something Comes Up

If the vet needs a decision during the appointment — additional tests, a treatment option, anything that requires owner input — we contact you immediately. You're reachable by text throughout the visit. The vet communicates with you directly for medical decisions; we handle the logistics around it.

If there's a genuine emergency, we stay with your pet and follow the vet's direction while keeping you informed in real time.

You're never out of the loop. You just don't have to be physically present. That's the difference between a pet transport service and a babysitter — you have full visibility without being there.

What We Need From You Before the Job

Your pet's name and any handling notes. If your dog is anxious with strangers, reactive on a leash, or needs a specific approach at pickup, tell us. The more we know before we arrive, the smoother the experience for your pet.

The clinic's name and address. Confirm with the clinic that a transport service will be bringing your pet on your behalf. Most vets are familiar with this — it's increasingly common.

Access to your pet at pickup. We'll need to be able to pick them up from your home. Whether that means a door code, a neighbor who has a key, or you stepping out for two minutes before your meeting — just make sure access is arranged.
